This is a Koto Taikan

This is Dictionary of the most prominant sword smiths of the Koto period with descriptions of work styles and representative picture as well as oshigata of their works.  Written in Japanese but does not require a full understanding of Japanese for it's use.  The Three Taikans Koto, Shinto and Shin-Shinto are really the first books that should be aquired by the beginning student as these contain the representative works of the most prominant smith of their times.  The oshigata and pictures are invaluable in developing an understanding of the "Goka den" and of the art of Kantei or judgeing.
